Dep Art Out: A Restored Trullo in Puglia Becomes an Art and Music Space

In the countryside of Ceglie Messapica, Puglia, a restored trullo now hosts international contemporary art and music. Founded by Antonio Addamiano, former director of Dep Art Gallery in Milan, Dep Art Out is a non-profit space created in 2022. Addamiano purchased the historic properties in 2020 with the idea of sharing leisure time with art lovers. During ongoing renovations, he acquired an additional plot with a trullo, which he restored into a small art venue. The space operates without electricity or staff, powered only by a solar battery lasting three hours. When the light fades, visitors gather under the stars. The first artist-in-residence was Wolfram Ullrich in August 2022. Regine Schumann is scheduled for August 2023. Addamiano is open to suggestions for living artists. The project also embraces music: Gigi Ligorio composed a song, and a video clip was made by Addamiano and Fabio Mantegna. In April, a major singer-songwriter will lend his Milan studio to record Ligorio's album of 15 songs. Addamiano has registered Dep Art Out as a music label and hopes to host live concerts. The site is listed for film locations, and Addamiano seeks a local assistant with international art knowledge. The mayor and assessor have expressed interest in collaborating for events in the historic center.
