Dennis Szakacs Returns to New Museum as Associate Director

Dennis Szakacs has been appointed as the associate director at the New Museum in New York. He previously worked there as the deputy director from 1997 until 2003. After that, he spent a decade leading the Orange County Museum of Art in Newport Beach, California, as its director and CEO from 2003 to 2013. In his new role, Szakacs will collaborate closely with Karen Wong, the deputy director, artistic director Massimiliano Gioni, and Lisa Phillips, who is the Toby Devan Lewis director. He’ll be responsible for managing finances, overseeing development initiatives, and planning strategically, especially as the museum gears up for its fortieth anniversary in 2017.
