Denise Calasans' 'Entre raízes e paredes' at Centro Cultural Correios RJ

Denise Calasans opens solo exhibition 'Entre raízes e paredes' at Centro Cultural Correios RJ on May 6, 2026, curated by Marisa Flórido. The show explores memory, nature, and domestic life through painting, installation, video, and textiles, organized into two nuclei: 'Jardim' and 'Casa'. In 'Jardim', paintings use Japanese shodō brushes and spirograph tools to create immersive surfaces. Video installation 'Sopro' filmed in Serra da Mantiqueira examines human-nature separation, referencing Ailton Krenak and Emanuele Coccia. In 'Casa', found objects like fabrics, porcelain, and inherited embroidery are activated. 'Palavras ao Vento' uses the artist's grandmother's trousseau and phrases from online surveys on contemporary love, previously shown at Hosek Contemporary in Berlin. 'Desfiar a Paisagem' incorporates fashion industry scraps. 'Objetos Essenciais Uma Arqueologia' featured at the I Bienal Internacional de Poesia Experimental da Argentina in November 2024. 'Cartas-Poema' presents typed, crumpled, unsent poems. The exhibition runs through June 20, 2026, with free admission.
