Demotapers: Web3 Platform Merging Music and Visual Arts via NFTs

digital · 2026-04-27

On October 19, 2022, Demotapers was launched as the first web3 platform offering NFTs with a strong interdependence between music and visual arts. Founded by Valuart and Matteo Zarcone, Demotapers aims to create an ecosystem where emerging artists and musicians can collaborate and transform a musical track into a unique, collectible object. The same track is reinterpreted by different visual artists who add visual variations and remix it. Musicians and artists are selected by a curatorial team. The name Demotapers references demo tapes as a turning point in discography and the first form of social network in music. The platform builds a community of 'demotapers'—music and art lovers in web3—who can create, share, exchange, and collect limited-edition works on the Polygon blockchain, chosen for its social focus. NFT collectors gain benefits like free event access, direct artist dialogue, and airdrops of limited new works. The first drop in December 2022 features an NFT based on Planet Funk's 'Chase the Sun,' remixed by selected crypto artists and musicians. Collaborators include electronic music masters Alex Neri, Claudio Coccoluto, Planet Funk, GNMR, Dukwa, and visual artists Haydiroket, Monsuta, Kaoru Tanaka, Chepertom.
