Demna Curates Gucci Memoria at Chiostri di San Simpliciano

exhibition · 2026-04-20

At Fuorisalone 2026, Gucci unveils Gucci Memoria, an engaging exhibition curated by Demna at Milan's Chiostri di San Simpliciano. This project explores the brand's 105-year legacy through a seamless narrative that showcases its changing identity while remaining rooted in its Florentine heritage. The display includes a series of twelve tapestries that serve as a visual history, starting with Guccio Gucci's early days at The Savoy in London and leading to the establishment of the first Florentine workshop, the development of its visual identity, and its rise as a global luxury icon. Notable creative periods feature iconic designs such as the Jackie 1961 and Bamboo 1947 handbags, alongside the visions of Creative Directors Tom Ford, Frida Giannini, Alessandro Michele, Sabato De Sarno, and Demna. A garden installation in the large cloister reinterprets the Flora motif, initially designed in 1966 by Vittorio Accornero with 37 unique colors. In the smaller cloister, custom vending machines offer canned drinks from Gucci Giardino, the café located in Florence's Piazza della Signoria, inspired by archetypes like Fashion Icon and Drama Queen. The exhibition is open until April 26, 2026.
