Demanio Marittimo expands with Sislej Xhafa sound installation on Adriatic coast

exhibition · 2026-05-04

The eighth edition of Demanio Marittimo.Km-278, a 12-hour beach marathon from 6 PM to 6 AM, took place on July 20, 2018, in Marzocca di Senigallia, Italy. This year, the event expanded its format by co-promoting a site-specific installation by Kosovo-born artist Sislej Xhafa (b. 1970, Peja). Titled obbobobbobo dul peshku, the sound artwork applauds every train passing along the Adriatic coastline. It is located on the seafront of Marina di Montemarciano, near the restaurant Nialtri, and runs until July 28. The installation was produced in collaboration with Kosovo's Ministry of Culture, the National Gallery of Prishtina, and the Municipality of Peja, as well as Galleria Continua and the Polytechnic University of Marche's Faculty of Information Engineering, which developed the software. Cristiana Colli, co-director of the event with Pippo Ciorra, stated that the project expands Demanio Marittimo spatially toward the Adriatic ridge and temporally, beginning at dawn when the 2018 edition ends. Xhafa's video explains the work is inspired by the Adriatic atmosphere linking the Marche coast and Kosovo. The installation is under the patronage of the Comune di Montemarciano.
