Delfino Sisto Legnani's Post-Gaddafi Libya Photos at Galleria Campo
Delfino Sisto Legnani's exhibition 'Troppo freddo per te qui' at Galleria Campo in Rome documents Libya in 2013, a year after Gaddafi's ouster. Curated by Emilia Giorgi, the show runs until January 26, 2018. Legnani, born in Milan in 1985, trained as an architect before turning to photography under Ramak Fazel. He has collaborated with OMA for Fondazione Prada and participated in the 2012 and 2014 Venice Architecture Biennale. The exhibition stems from a journey with photographer Giovanna Silva from Benghazi to Tripoli, tracing the revolution. It focuses on architecture of power—empty government buildings, Italian colonial structures, unfinished constructions, and military spaces—with human presence minimal. Images are printed on large fabrics, creating immersive installations. The title quotes the Tuwwar rebels' words to Gaddafi about Cyrenaica's climate. The show is part of Passeggiate Fotografiche Romane, promoted by the Photography Steering Committee of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Tourism, directed by Lorenza Bravetta. Legnani aims to document war's impact on power architecture, with objects like a copy of Gaddafi's 1975 Green Book on display. The project captures Libya's brief post-revolution euphoria before descending into violence and anarchy.
