Delano Miami Beach Reopens with Art-Focused Redesign and Paris Society's U.S. Debut

architecture-design · 2026-08-19

After closing its doors in March 2020, the Delano Miami Beach has reopened, showcasing a newly redesigned interior focused on modern art. Established in 1947 by Robert Swartburg and named in honor of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the hotel transformed into a lifestyle icon in 1995 under the vision of Ian Schrager and Philippe Starck. Lenny Kravitz launched the Florida Room lounge in 2007. Renovations by Elastic Architects have brought back the original terrazzo flooring and included works from Salvador Dalí and Antoni Gaudí. The hotel's art collection features contributions from Nina Surel, Edouard Duval-Carrié, and Màrielle Plaisir. It offers 171 rooms, including new penthouses, alongside Gigi Rigolatto, a restaurant by chef Giuseppe Pezzella, and Mimi Kakushi, a private Japanese-inspired venue.
