Delaine Le Bas: Leap at Maureen Paley
Delaine Le Bas presents her first exhibition at Maureen Paley, titled Leap, running from 4 June to 25 July 2026. The show features sculpture, textiles, and a new series of Murano glass works made in collaboration with Studio Berengo in Venice. Central to the exhibition is The Goddess, a sculptural figure combining handmade elements and found materials, including textiles and vintage fabrics. The Murano glass works, produced in editions of two with visible distinctions, explore themes of difference, identity, and material transformation, drawing on imagery of witches and folkloric figures. Le Bas, nominated for the Turner Prize after her acclaimed 2024 exhibition Delainia: 17071965 Unfolding at Tramway, Glasgow, addresses Romani histories, migration, gender, and belonging. The exhibition also includes works from her ongoing Romani Embassy project and references her role in establishing the First Roma Pavilion at the 2007 Venice Biennale.
