Deezer Launches AI Music Detection Tool for Streaming Platforms

On Thursday, Deezer launched a complimentary online tool designed to analyze playlists from streaming services such as Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music, pinpointing tracks created by AI. This tool accommodates 27 languages and enables users from 20 different platforms to detect synthetic music. Deezer is taking a strong stance against AI music, consistently eliminating AI tracks from its recommendations and editorial playlists while also providing its detection technology to competitors. CEO Alexis Lanternier emphasized that Deezer has prioritized transparency in music streaming for the last 18 months. The company disclosed that 44% of new uploads are AI-generated, with nearly 75,000 AI tracks added daily, although these tracks only account for 1-3% of total streams, with 85% labeled as fraudulent and demonetized. Following Bandcamp's recent ban on AI music, Deezer is contemplating potential actions, such as revising supplier policies or removing certain content.
