Decolonial Expressions Biennial at Nantes Museum Challenges Colonial Legacy
The 4th edition of the biennial 'Expression(s) décoloniale(s)' at the Musée d'histoire de Nantes confronts the city's central role in the Atlantic slave trade. Brazilian artist Rosana Paulino and Senegalese artist Omar Victor Diop present works in dialogue with the museum's archives, reinterpreting colonial and slavery heritage. The exhibition runs until November 8, 2026, and coincides with the 25th anniversary of the Taubira Law, which on May 10, 2001, made France the first country to recognize the Atlantic slave trade and colonial slavery as crimes against humanity.
