Decentralized Multi-Agent Swarm for IIoT Security
A new decentralized security architecture for Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) networks, called Decentralized Multi-Agent Swarm (DMAS), has been proposed in a paper on arXiv (2601.17303). DMAS deploys autonomous agents at each edge gateway to form a distributed defense layer, using a lightweight peer-to-peer protocol for local threat detection without cloud dependency. The system includes a Consensus-based Threat Validation (CVT) protocol where agents collectively vote on threats, enabling near-instant quarantine of compromised nodes. In experiments on a 2000-device hardware testbed, DMAS achieved sub-millisecond response times (0.85 ms average) and 97.3% detection accuracy.
