Décade: A Book-CD by Anne-James Chaton, Alva Noto, and Andy Moor

The German label Raster Noton, known for its cutting-edge electronic music, releases a book-CD edition of "Décade," a project initiated in 2009 at Le Lieu Unique in Nantes. The work features poet Anne-James Chaton, who conceived the project, alongside Alva Noto (Carsten Nicolai), co-founder of Raster Noton, and Andy Moor, guitarist of the Dutch agit-punk band The Ex. The text is an investigation into a character referred to as "il," whose daily activities are recorded in subject-verb-complement litanies drawn from objective traces of modern life: lists, lottery grids, cash register receipts, bank statements, and phone records. Chaton's dry, metronomic delivery creates a mantra-like effect, complemented by Moor's guitar and Noto's electronic waves. The project is praised for its rare coalescence of literature and contemporary music.
