De Linea Art Festival 2026: Drawing as Shared Performance at Certosa di Pontignano
The third edition of De Linea Art Festival, dedicated to drawing and its contemporary interpretations, took place on May 2–3, 2026, at the Certosa di Pontignano near Siena, Italy. The event transformed the historic monastery into a living laboratory of creativity, blending artist residency practices with community participation. Curated by Matteo Marsan and Riccardo Guasco, with the support of the cultural association Lo Stanzone delle Apparizioni, the festival featured nine illustrators: Marina Marcolin, Francesco Poroli, Elisa Macellari, Gianluca Folì, Ale Giorgini, Gloria Pizzilli, Matteo Berton, Giovanna Giuliano, and Daniele Caluri. Over 500 visitors attended workshops, talks, and performances, including a workshop by Fondazione Il Bisonte and sessions with actress Daniela Morozzi and graphic poet Alessandro Valenti (Alvalenti). More than 150 local students from Liceo Artistico Buoninsegna in Siena participated, creating en plein air portraits. The festival's theme, "Crepe e spiragli" (Cracks and Glimmers), was inspired by a Leonard Cohen quote. The event aimed to demonstrate that creativity is not a magical moment but a bridge between different worlds, emphasizing process over technique.
