De leur temps (3) Celebrates 10 Years of Prix Marcel Duchamp

exhibition · 2026-04-23

The third edition of the triennial exhibition 'De leur temps (3)', organized by the ADIAF (Association pour la diffusion Internationale de l’art français), coincides with the 10th anniversary of the Prix Marcel Duchamp. Unlike previous editions, this year's exhibition focuses exclusively on the forty nominees and winners of the prize over the past decade, offering a representative overview of the French contemporary art scene in the early 21st century. The exhibition is split between two venues in Alsace: the Frac in Sélestat and the Musée de Strasbourg. At Sélestat, highlights include Pascal Pinaud's monumental installation, Damien Deroubaix's sharks, Gilles Barbier's 'Concert autistique', Thomas Hirschhorn's 'Aquarium', and Claude Lévêque's neon piece 'Vous allez tous mourir'. In Strasbourg, the larger part of the exhibition is organized into seven thematic sections, including 'Villes et architectures' featuring Mathieu Mercier's 'Pavillon', Valérie Jouve, Stéphane Couturier, Nicolas Moulin, and Tatiana Trouvé. The exhibition aims to address criticism that France does not sufficiently support its own contemporary artists, though it is not intended to travel internationally. The next edition is scheduled for 2013 in Marseille, when the city will be European Capital of Culture.
