De Kooning Drawing Show at Art Institute of Chicago
The Art Institute of Chicago will host "Willem de Kooning Drawing" from June 14 to Sept. 20, featuring 210 works primarily on paper by the Abstract Expressionist master. The exhibition includes paintings, sculptures, and hybrid works, with the iconic "Woman I" (1950-52) on loan from the Museum of Modern Art. A version of the show will travel to the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam in the fall. De Kooning (1904-97) was born in Rotterdam, arrived in the US in 1926 as a stowaway, and later became a leading figure in Abstract Expressionism.
