Davina Semo's 'ALL THE WORLD' at Marlborough Contemporary Tackles Climate Anxiety with Bronze Bells and Acrylic Mirrors

exhibition · 2026-04-22

From January 10 to February 16, 2019, Davina Semo showcased her third solo exhibition titled 'ALL THE WORLD' at Marlborough Contemporary in New York City. The display included large acrylic mirrors and cast-bronze bells, all crafted in 2019. The bells, ranging from 20 to 33 inches in height, were made using a wax-casting method and finished with a bituminous patina. While visitors were allowed to ring the wooden clappers, touching the bronze was not permitted. Five mirrors, each measuring six by five feet, incorporated radial ball bearings and vibrant colors, reflecting a tonal evolution in Semo's art. The exhibition addressed pressing contemporary issues, such as the Flint water crisis and climate activism, and was situated at 545 West 25th Street.
