Davide Rivalta's Bronze Primates Invade Brescia Castle Park

exhibition · 2026-04-27

At the Castello di Brescia, the outdoor exhibit "Sogni di gloria" showcases 14 large bronze sculptures of primates created by Italian artist Davide Rivalta, who was born in Bologna in 1974. These nearly three-meter-tall gorillas are placed directly on the grass, symbolizing the location's history as a zoo from 1912 to 1988. This exhibition is part of Brescia's designation as Italian Capital of Culture, which it shares with Bergamo, and is produced alongside the 17th edition of "Meccaniche della Meraviglia." Curated by Davide Ferri, the exhibit will be open until January 7, 2024, and will also extend to the Pinacoteca Tosio Martinengo. Meanwhile, the castle is being transformed into a cultural park by Fondazione Brescia Musei.
