Davide Musto's 'Nuovo Cinema Paradiso' Maps New Italian Acting Talent

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Photographer Davide Musto presents 'Nuovo Cinema Paradiso', an itinerant exhibition mapping contemporary Italian acting talent, running concurrently with the MIA – Milan Image Art Fair at Superstudio Maxi until May 1. The show features portraits of emerging actors like Eduardo Scarpetta, Maria Chiara Giannetta, Lorenzo Zurzolo, Ema Stokholma, Giancarlo Commare, and Rocco Fasano, who have gained visibility through streaming platforms such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. Musto, a Palermo native based in Rome, has been documenting this new generation for years, working with magazines including MANINTOWN, L'Officiel, Style, Sportweek, and Fucking Young!. The exhibition, curated by Federico Poletti, will travel to Rome and Noto before concluding at the Venice Film Festival in September, adding new photographic and video content at each stop. Musto describes the project as a meticulous research effort and a personal purpose, blending his passions for fashion and cinema. He cites Helmut Newton, Peter Lindbergh, and Bruce Weber as major influences, and credits Alessandro Calascibetta of Style Magazine for launching his professional photography career.
