Davide Dormino installs 'Poltergeist' at La Serpara garden in Viterbo
Swiss sculptor Paul Wiedmer created La Serpara, a total artwork garden in Alto Lazio near the Tiber River border between Lazio and Umbria, where sculptures and plants coexist. Since 1997, over thirty artists have contributed works ranging from sculpture to Land Art, curated by Wiedmer and his family. In 2019, Davide Dormino (born 1973 in Udine) was invited to create a site-specific piece. His work 'Poltergeist' is a vertical sequence of seven nails stacked in precarious balance, referencing Brâncuși's 'Endless Column'. Dormino describes the nail as a meta-operational element that holds things together. The sculpture challenges gravity, appearing as an anomalous, sudden scenario. It embodies the artist's quest to reveal imagination and courage beyond the imaginable. The garden offers visitors a micro-world where each corner is a new text or perspective.
