Davide Benati's 'Encantadas' at Palazzo da Mosto in Reggio Emilia

Fondazione Palazzo Magnani presents a solo exhibition of Davide Benati (Reggio Emilia, 1953) titled 'Encantadas' at Palazzo da Mosto in Reggio Emilia, running until March 31, 2025. Curated by Walter Guadagnini, the show features around fifty works from public and private collections and the artist's studio, spanning his career from the early 1980s to recent large-format triptychs. Benati is known for his large watercolors on Nepalese paper, blending figuration and abstraction, dream and reality. The exhibition includes his most famous pieces, works previously shown in Italian and international galleries, and some never exhibited before. Benati describes himself as an abstract painter and emphasizes the importance of light, which he observes daily from his studio. The installation dialogues with the 15th-century palace spaces, culminating in a series of large triptychs that break from his 1980s compositional structure. The show also features travel sketchbooks and private notes.
