David Zwirner to Represent Diane Arbus Estate

exhibition · 2026-05-04

David Zwirner announced he will represent and manage the artistic estate of photographer Diane Arbus (1923–1971), collaborating with Fraenkel Gallery. The partnership begins with an exhibition of Arbus's Untitled series, 65 images taken at residences for people with disabilities between 1969 and 1971. The show opens November 2, 2018 at David Zwirner's 537 West 20th Street gallery in New York. Zwirner stated he is honored to work with Fraenkel Gallery on managing Arbus's legacy. The Untitled series remained unknown until 1995 when Aperture published Diane Arbus: Untitled. The exhibition marks a radical shift from Arbus's typically bold work.
