David Zwirner to Launch New York Gallery Led by Ebony L. Haynes with All-Black Staff

institutional · 2026-04-20

David Zwirner is opening a new gallery in New York, distinct from his existing spaces in London, Paris, and Hong Kong. This venture will take a kunsthalle format and will have a team made up entirely of Black staff, including interns. Ebony L. Haynes, who has previously served as director at Martos Gallery and Shoot The Lobster in both NY and LA, will oversee the gallery's curation with a significant degree of freedom. Currently a guest professor at the Yale School of Art, she started the monthly Black Art Sessions this summer, which offer free classes on gallery management for Black students. Discussions between Zwirner and Haynes began in January, and a location is still to be determined. Zwirner praised Haynes's innovative vision and her rich experience in the art world.
