David Zwirner Opens Third New York Gallery on Upper East Side
David Zwirner is opening a third New York gallery on the Upper East Side, at 34 East 69th Street, in a building that housed Richard L. Feigen & Co for 35 years. The space will be shared with advisory firm Adler Beatty and used for special projects and two large historical exhibitions per year. This move bucks the trend of galleries expanding to new markets, instead strengthening Zwirner's presence in Manhattan. The new gallery is a return to Uptown for Zwirner, who operated a gallery on the same street from 2000 to 2009. Kristine Bell, a senior partner who directed that earlier space, noted the revival of the Upper East Side as galleries move from downtown. Meanwhile, Zwirner is also preparing to open a fourth space in Hong Kong in autumn 2017, designed by architect Annabelle Selldorf, located in the H Queen's tower in Central district.
