David Zwirner London hosts talk on Cuban concretism with Abigail McEwen
A discussion about the Cuban abstract collective Los Diez Pintores Concretos will take place at David Zwirner's London gallery on Saturday 5 September at 11am. ArtReview's deputy editor Oliver Basciano will moderate the conversation with Abigail McEwen, an assistant professor at New York University's Institute of Fine Arts. McEwen's expertise centers on twentieth-century Cuban and Puerto Rican art, and her forthcoming book Revolutionary Horizons: Art and Polemics in 1950s Cuba is scheduled for publication by Yale University Press in 2016. The event will examine the group's work, which is currently displayed at the gallery, and explore the broader rise of concretism in 1950s Cuba. Those interested in attending should RSVP to rosa@davidzwirner.com. The gallery is located at 24 Grafton Street in London.
