David Zwirner becomes patron of literary magazine The Drift

publication · 2026-04-27

David Zwirner, the German art dealer ranked first in ArtReview's Power 100 in 2018, is now a patron of The Drift, a New York literary magazine. Founded in 2020 by Kiara Barrow and Rebecca Panovka, The Drift is a print-only publication released three times a year with an intellectual, left-leaning editorial stance. The partnership was initiated by Lucas Zwirner, editorial director of David Zwirner Books and host of the gallery's podcast Dialogues, who previously contributed to the magazine. The gallery will provide financial support and host launch events for new issues at its spaces, but The Drift will remain independent from David Zwirner Books. The goal is to support a new generation of writers, with no requirement for art-related content. David Zwirner Books, founded in 2014, publishes catalogues, monographs, artist books, and catalogues raisonnés, and partnered with Simon & Schuster in 2019 for North American distribution.
