David Tremlett to Paint Monumental Mural on Silos in Reggio Emilia

artist · 2026-04-26

David Tremlett, a British artist born in 1945 in St. Austell, Cornwall, is set to produce a significant permanent drawing named "13 Silos" on the silos of the former Caffarri feed mill located in Reggio Emilia, Italy. This endeavor is part of a broader urban regeneration effort aimed at converting the area into an educational center. The artwork will feature a gradient of colors, shifting from light in the center to darker shades at the periphery, with its inauguration planned for October 2024, alongside a major exhibition of Tremlett's works at Chiostri di San Pietro. The commission was suggested by curator Marina Dacci. For over twenty years, the municipality of Reggio Emilia has been committed to public art, beginning with Claudio Parmiggiani's "Invito a…" project from 2003 to 2006.
