exhibition · 2026-08-19

David Shrigley is set to showcase his signature dark humor at the Dulwich Picture Gallery in London, with the exhibition commencing on 25 May 2027. This marks his first solo presentation in a UK public art museum since 2012. The display will include previously unseen commissions by Shrigley, paired with 17th-century Dutch and Flemish artworks, emphasizing the comedic elements in historical art. Notable artists featured are Rembrandt van Rijn, Jan Steen, and Pieter Brueghel the Younger. Helen Hillyard commended Shrigley for his knack for uncovering humor in daily life. The 2027/28 season will also highlight exhibitions for Jacqueline Marval (2 February–9 May 2027) and Anwar Jalal Shemza (21 September–16 January 2027), along with new works by Sahara Longe and Caroline Walker.
