David Shrigley and Nicolai Wallner Open Shrig Shop in Copenhagen

On April 10, 2021, the Shrig Shop opens in Copenhagen at Tullinsgade 3, a hybrid space between a store and a gallery dedicated entirely to British artist David Shrigley. The project is a collaboration between Shrigley and gallerist Nicolai Wallner, announced via the Galleria Nicolai Wallner Instagram account. The shop offers a range of items including T-shirts (€30–45), an inflatable lifebuoy/sculpture (€35), mugs (€35), a teapot (€200), postcards (€2.50), posters and books (under €50), and limited edition prints (€2,500,000). An online extension allows browsing and purchasing posters, clothing, limited editions, and other works. Shrigley, born in Macclesfield in 1968, works across drawing, painting, sculpture, installation, photography, animation, and print. He has directed music videos for Blur and Bonnie Prince Billy, was a Turner Prize finalist in 2013 (won by Laure Prouvost), and in 2016 received the Fourth Plinth Commission for his sculpture "Really Good" in Trafalgar Square—a ten-meter-high hand making an "OK" gesture. The shop embodies his ironic, seemingly lighthearted yet dark exploration of contemporary life.
