David Lynch announces new album 'Cellophane Memories' with Chrystabell

David Lynch has announced a new album titled 'Cellophane Memories', created with singer and actress Chrystabell, who played FBI Special Agent Tamara Preston in the 2017 revival of 'Twin Peaks'. The album is set for release on August 2, 2024, via Sacred Bones Records. The first single, 'Sublime Eternal Love', is accompanied by a music video directed by Lynch, featuring Chrystabell alone, with her half-length figure reflected three times under moonlight. Lynch described the video as 'artistically minimalist but emotionally surprising'. The album is produced by Sabrina S. Sutherland, a longtime collaborator who worked on 'Inland Empire' and 'Twin Peaks'. This is Lynch and Chrystabell's third studio album together, following 'This Train' (2011) and 'Somewhere in the Nowhere' (2016). Lynch said the collaboration was inspired by a 'nighttime walk through a forest of tall trees, above which he saw a bright light'. The ten tracks evoke forests, mountain peaks, twilight highways, and dark bedrooms, with themes of solitude and romance. The album also features contributions from the late composer Angelo Badalamenti. A limited edition of 750 copies on transparent red vinyl, with a cover featuring a Cymbidium orchid photo, a wax seal, a certificate of authenticity, and a postcard with handwritten lyrics by Lynch, has already sold out.
