David Lamelas retrospective at Fondazione Dalle Nogare in Bolzano

exhibition · 2026-04-27

In Bolzano, the Fondazione Dalle Nogare showcases the inaugural Italian retrospective of Argentine conceptual artist David Lamelas (born 1946), titled "I have to think about it." Curated by Andrea Viliani and Eva Brioschi, this year-long exhibition features reinstallations, performances, and concerts. It begins with "Gente di Milano" (1970) and includes works from artists such as Sol LeWitt, Robert Barry, On Kawara, Douglas Huebler, and Lucio Fontana. A section is devoted to Alighiero Boetti, Giovanni Anselmo, Emilio Prini, Giulio Paolini, and Luciano Fabro, with Lamelas’ "Segnalamento" (2014) highlighting Fabro's "Impronta" (1964). Lamelas represented Argentina at the 1968 Venice Biennale, and his installation is reintroduced in Bolzano. The exhibition wraps up with small-format canvases from the late 1980s.
