David Hockney's 80-Meter iPad Frieze of Normandy Seasons at Serpentine North
At Serpentine North in London, visitors can see an 80-metre-long frieze titled 'A Year in Normandie and Some Other Thoughts about Painting' by David Hockney. This piece, created on an iPad, consists of more than one hundred electronic panels printed on premium paper, each standing 88 cm tall. Hockney produced this artwork between 2020 and 2021 while in isolation at his home in Beuvron-en-Auge, showcasing seasonal landscapes. The exhibition also includes two series of five canvas paintings that highlight Hockney's hospitality. The venue, a former gunpowder store, was transformed by Zaha Hadid in 2013. This frieze is among Hockney's final two exhibitions, the other being at Turner Contemporary in Margate.
