David Cronenberg's NFT short film sells for 25 ETH

David Cronenberg has written and starred in a new short film, 'The Death of David Cronenberg,' directed by his daughter Caitlin Cronenberg. The surreal work, which depicts the director encountering his own corpse, was released online after a seven-year absence from filmmaking since his last feature 'Maps to the Stars' (2014). The short was conceived as an NFT and auctioned on SuperRare starting September 14, 2021, with an initial bid of 0.1 Ethereum. It sold for 25 ETH (approximately $71,000). The film's opening scene references the mystical atmosphere of Stanley Kubrick's '2001: A Space Odyssey,' featuring triangular architectural forms and dramatic lighting.
