David Cohen Leads Tributes to Late Painter with Multiple New York Exhibitions and Archives

David Cohen, editor of artcritical, has organized a tribute to a late painter involving 21 artists, critics, and friends. The remembrance includes contributions from Jason Farago, Seph Rodney, and Karen Wilkin. Multiple exhibitions of the painter's work are currently on view across New York City. One show at the New York Studio School runs through March 4, while another at Tower 49 Gallery continues through October. An earlier exhibition at the New York Studio School was seen this summer, and a display on the Upper East Side remains open until December 14. The painter's mature work is characterized by seriousness and Olympian detachment. Cohen previously reviewed the 2012 Whitney Biennial with these contributors.
