Dave Swensen's Solo Exhibition at Galleria Ramo in Como
Galleria Ramo in Como, a small but ambitious space run by thirty-year-old gallerist-curator David Simons, is hosting a solo exhibition of self-taught painter-sculptor Dave Swensen. Swensen, born in Des Moines, Iowa in 1984, presents eleven small, mysterious works that blend painting and sculpture. Using geometric surfaces, he applies layers of pigments and varnishes until the surface is perceived as perfect. The dark colors and shadow-playing forms create an aggressive visual impact against the white gallery walls. Como is not traditionally a destination for contemporary art collectors, but Simons is working to change that by focusing on emerging artists and providing maximum support for each solo show without representing them. The exhibition opened in early 2020.
