Dataland, LA's New AI Art Museum, Opens with Immersive Rainforest Exhibition
On June 20, Los Angeles welcomed Dataland, the first museum dedicated to AI Arts globally. This innovative space, co-founded by Refik Anadol and Efsun Erkılıç, spans 25,000 square feet within the Grand LA tower, designed by Frank Gehry. The opening exhibition, titled Machine Dreams: Rainforest, utilizes 1.2 billion data points to deliver an immersive experience. The primary technology employed, the Large Nature Model (LNM), draws from datasets provided by collaborators such as the Smithsonian and Cornell Lab. While the Living Encyclopedia database is available for $10 per month, it is free from the opening date. Dataland operates as a for-profit entity with undisclosed financial details, partnering with NVIDIA and Google Cloud. Ticket prices vary from $49 to $79, with priority access costing between $89 and $129.
