Darth Vader's original helmet mask from The Empire Strikes Back heads to auction

Profiles in History, a California-based auction house, will hold the 'Hollywood Icons and Legends' sale on September 25 and 26, 2019, in Los Angeles. The highlight is Darth Vader's helmet mask from the 1980 film The Empire Strikes Back, estimated between $250,000 and $450,000, though auction curator Zach Pogemiller noted it could exceed that range. Other lots include Dorothy's dress from The Wizard of Oz (1939), Marilyn Monroe's nightgown, costumes worn by Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet in Titanic, Harry Potter's round glasses, and the damaged DeLorean from Back to the Future Part 2. Pogemiller remarked on how studio employees saved unique pieces from being discarded, emphasizing that until recently, few thought to preserve such cultural artifacts.
