Darkness Visible: 18 Artists Revisit Argentina's Dictatorship at Spazio Punch

exhibition · 2026-05-06

To mark the 50th anniversary of the 1976 coup that began Argentina's last military dictatorship (1976–1983), Spazio Punch presents 'Darkness Visible: The Long Shadow of Dictatorship.' The regime implemented state terror including censorship, kidnappings, torture, murder, and forced disappearances of 30,000 people, driving thousands into exile. Artistic expression was repressed. The exhibition revisits how artists have addressed violence in overt and subtle forms, set against current global attacks on democratic institutions. Eighteen artists participate.
