Dark Times, Bright Signs: Milan exhibition explores design as resistance

The exhibition 'Dark Times, Bright Signs' at Delvis (Un)Limited in Milan, curated by Valentina Ciuffi with creative direction by Studio Vedèt and installation by Space Caviar, presents works by emerging designers that respond to contemporary anxieties including war, climate crisis, and surveillance. The show extends the conversation started during Milan Design Week with 'The Theater of Things', shifting focus from the domestic sphere to collective uncertainty. Featured pieces include Panorammma's Chainmail Chair, a hand-woven metal ring seat that blurs protection and constraint; Jirah's Corseted Ceremony Seat, a walnut chair wrapped in a rigid corset evoking rural memory and oppression; Diaphan Studio's Horizon, a luminous sculpture that alternates between silence and sudden brightness; Natalia Triantafylli's mirror combining ceramic and 3D-printed plastic; Duccio Maria Gambi's marble blocks clad in mirrored steel; and Joy Herro's Still Here, a black vase resembling an explosive device that holds a living plant. The exhibition runs until February 2026 and positions design as a form of resistance and awareness.
