Dario Vitale exits Versace creative direction after one season

other · 2026-04-26

Dario Vitale has left his role as Chief Creative Officer of Versace after presenting just one collection, the spring/summer 2026 line during Milan Fashion Week. The announcement came hours after Prada Group completed its $1.25 billion acquisition of the company. Vitale, who succeeded Donatella Versace after nearly three decades, had drawn from Gianni Versace's 1980s archives to revitalize the brand. Previously, he worked with Miuccia Prada at Miu Miu, modernizing the label. Versace stated that the next creative director will be announced "in due time," with the creative team now reporting to CEO Emmanuel Gintzburger.
