Dario Carratta's First Solo Show at Richter Fine Art in Rome
Dario Carratta (born 1988 in Gallipoli) presents his first solo exhibition, 'Sniff my leather jacket', at Richter Fine Art in Rome. The show is conceived as a picture gallery or a pristine Kunstkammer, where the expressive charge of painting scratches the viewer's eye to create a missed dialogue, an interruption, a visionary and lively spectacle. Works include a speeding car, a boy leaning against a wall, a girl made of flowers, and a series of tragic and mocking masks on the first floor, desperately seeking a name and a voice. Downstairs, a puppet reminiscent of Pinocchio gazes at a Caribbean landscape, seemingly mocking the vacation and highlighting an increasingly abstract and distant never-never land. The exhibition is reviewed by Antonello Tolve.
