Daphné Le Sergent's 'Géopolitique de l’oubli' at Jeu de Paume

Daphné Le Sergent presents the second movement of her cycle, 'Géopolitique de l’oubli', as part of the Satellite 11 program curated by Agnès Violeau under the title 'NOVLANGUE_'. The exhibition runs from June 5 to September 23, 2018, at Jeu de Paume in Paris. Le Sergent, born in 1975 in Seoul, South Korea, and based in Paris, explores the 'Class C' vocabulary from George Orwell's '1984'—technical language—in the context of the data deluge. Her work, rooted in a dual cultural background, investigates schize and deterritorialization through montage, cut-up, and erasure techniques. She examines identity construction and the border landscape as a perceptual phenomenon akin to a screen. The exhibition features text fragments, partitioned drawings, photographic diptychs, and video sequences that question the lines of subjectivity traversing the image.
