Dantebus: A Social Network Built for Artists

Founded by journalist Andrea Rosario Fusco, Dantebus is a social network designed exclusively for artists across disciplines, launched online in 2016 after being conceived in 2014. The platform allows painters, photographers, poets, writers, cartoonists, and digital artists to publish posts, comment, create groups, and collaborate. Fusco observed that artists struggled to gain visibility on mainstream social media like Facebook, where artistic content gets lost. Dantebus has since expanded into Dantebus Edizioni, a publishing house blending traditional print with new content. The team includes graphic designer Andrea Pisano, lead programmer Enrico Vicinanza, engineers Luca Carbone and Salvatore Addesa (mobile apps), and administrator Leonardo Iemma; for publishing, Massimo Gherardini serves as editor-in-chief, with lyricist Sergio Cirillo and artist Edoardo Pisano on the scientific committee. Dantebus offers paid tools like 3D virtual galleries and custom mobile apps for artists lacking tech access. A feature called Dantecommons enables collective artworks. The project also includes social initiatives such as a book by Olympic champion Massimiliano Rosolino about Pitt Hopkins syndrome, in collaboration with AISPH. Future plans involve improving technology and organizing real-world events, exhibitions, and meetings to build a community beyond the web.
