Dante's Divine Comedy Gets Immersive Exhibition at Rhinoceros Gallery Rome

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Rhinoceros Gallery in Rome, founded by patron Alda Fendi and directed by Raffaele Curi, will host an immersive exhibition on Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy from April 15 to July 15, 2021. The show intertwines German artist Claudia Rogge's photographic series 'EverAfter' with Curi's installation 'DANTE. In a private dream of Raffaele Curi,' featuring a multimedia forest of monitors tuned to radioactive cities Chernobyl, Hiroshima, Sellafield, and Harrisburg, accompanied by loud electronic music. The journey culminates in a Paradise section with a work by 15th-century painter Giovanni di Paolo. The Accademia della Crusca collaborates with a daily Instagram project 'La parola di Dante fresca di giornata,' also featured in the gallery. The exhibition marks the 700th anniversary of Dante's death, celebrated on Dantedì (March 25), the date scholars believe Dante began his journey through Hell, Purgatory, and Paradise. Rhinoceros Gallery, housed in a 17th-century palace renovated by Jean Nouvel, has previously collaborated with the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, exhibiting Michelangelo's 'L'Adolescente' and El Greco's 'San Pietro e San Paolo.'
