Dante's Divine Comedy Gets Dark Souls-Style Video Game Adaptation

digital · 2026-04-26

Italian studio Jyamma Games announced a video game adaptation of Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy at Gamescom's Opening Night Live in Cologne. The action RPG, set in a world where the poem replaced ancient faith, features procedurally generated labyrinths and is heavily inspired by FromSoftware's Dark Souls series. A teaser shows a Dante-like character slaying monsters. This follows other Dante-inspired games like Electronic Arts' 2010 Dante's Inferno and Thunder Lotus Games' 33 Immortals. Jyamma's previous title, Enotria: The Last Song (2024), faced controversies including delays, promotion issues, and criticism over working conditions and low pay, with CEO Giacomo Greco stating no overtime is paid as workers are freelancers. Artist Ivan De Gregori discussed conflicts between developers and financiers at the IVIPRO Days 2024 event.
