Danilo Bucchi's Site-Specific Mural 'Paesaggio Sospettato' Unveiled in Rome
A new large-scale mural by Danilo Bucchi (born 1978) is on view in Rome until April 30 as part of the fifth edition of the Skin Taste cycle, curated by Adriana Rispoli. The work, titled 'Paesaggio Sospettato,' covers the 250-square-meter facade of the Porto Fluviale restaurant. Since 2013, the facade has been annually transformed by a different artist using paper posters. Previous participants include Mariangela Levita, Flavio Favelli, Giuseppe Stampone, Igor Grubic, and Raffaela Mariniello. Bucchi, known for his large urban interventions, employs an apparently abstract pictorial sign dense with silent narratives. Critic Achille Bonito Oliva writes that Bucchi does not seek to cancel the physical gravity of the world but rather enhances it through a real, figurable method that extracts a sign and formalizes the obscure weight of color within a necessary form.
