Daniele Puppi's site-specific video installation at Minnesota Street Project
On September 8, 2018, the Minnesota Street Project in San Francisco opens a solo exhibition by Italian artist Daniele Puppi (b. 1970, Pordenone), curated by Valentino Catricalà. Founded by collectors Deborah and Andy Rappaport, the venue hosts ten independent galleries, the San Francisco Arts Education Project, and a restaurant. Catricalà describes it as a relatively new space (4–5 years old) focused on new media, with a strong program of American artists now expanding to Europeans. Puppi, who has shown internationally, presents a site-specific audiovisual installation that reexamines perception. The work is a large video installation reinterpreting American culture through classic cowboy films, mixed with Puppi's multi-media style. A talk on art and technology using Puppi's work as a case study precedes the opening. The exhibition runs through September 29, 2018.
