Daniele Pitteri appointed Director of Fondazione Modena Arti Visive

institutional · 2026-05-04

Daniele Pitteri has been named the new General Director of FMAV – Fondazione Modena Arti Visive, succeeding Diana Baldon, who will remain as Curator at large. Pitteri, born in Naples in 1960, previously directed the Complesso Museale di Santa Maria della Scala in Siena, where he significantly increased attendance from under 70,000 tickets in 2015 to 203,000 in 2018 and secured regional accreditation. He officially assumes the role on April 1. Baldon requested the role change to balance professional and personal commitments, as stated by FMAV President Gino Lugli. A recruitment agency selected Pitteri from three finalists for a three-year term. Baldon had been General Director since October 2017, having been chosen over Maria Chiara Bertola, Caterina Riva, and Ilaria Bonacossa (who withdrew after being named director of Artissima). Pitteri has also taught at Sapienza University of Rome and the University of Siena, served on ministerial and Confindustria commissions, and collaborated with institutions including the Biennale di Venezia, the Premio David di Donatello, and the Triennale di Milano.
