Daniele Galliano's 'Follia Sacra' at Cavour Abbey
The exhibition 'Follia Sacra' by Daniele Galliano (born 1961 in Pinerolo) is staged inside the crypt of the Benedictine Abbey of Santa Maria di Cavour, within the Parco Naturale della Rocca di Cavour near Turin. The monastic complex, after decades of abandonment, has been restored and now houses the show, where the crypt features the oldest altar in the region. Galliano's paintings depict faces emerging through gestural brushstrokes, with the artist's own visage appearing and disappearing like a projection of light, suspended between dream and wakefulness. The self-portraits convey a multitude of selves within a single human being.
