Daniele Galliano: Live Painting at OGR Turin with Blonde Redhead, John Cale, Arto Lindsay

Daniele Galliano, an Italian painter and musician, created live paintings during the Avantgarde Portrait concert series at OGR in Turin, curated by Fabrizio Gargarone. The series featured Blonde Redhead (February 17), John Cale (March 3), and Arto Lindsay (March 17). Galliano's performance involved painting "alla prima" without preparatory drawings, using oil, tempera, enamel, and conegrina. He prepared three working hypotheses to complete a work in just over an hour. The collaboration originated from Gargarone's idea and Galliano's availability. After the Blonde Redhead concert, Kazu and their manager requested to use Galliano's painting as a poster for their New York show. Galliano is also a harmonica player in the Turin underground band Totò Zingaro. He has previous live painting experience with musicians like Saturnino, Livio Mignani, and Giovanni Portaluppi, but this time he had to follow the musicians' narrative. Galliano hopes OGR will continue to be a place for cross-disciplinary contamination.
